At Helsreik Quest all Casters and Secular healers must have their own casting stones and runestone pouches.
All Casters must bring with them the required stones for their archetype as laid out in the rules.
Players can cast until they run out of success stone at which point they are exhausted and can no longer cast, it signifies the depletion of their magical energy and so their ability to perform spells successfully for the remainder of the day is lost.
An archetype must make sure they manage their stone cautiously to avoid this during an event.
If one of these is drawn the action is failed and a success stone is removed.
There may be times when through drawing on The Tarot of Fate you will be required to add additional Failure Stones for a period of time during the event. A player can never have more than 3 Failure Stones in their pouch (except when adding more Fate Stones).
At Quest events, Mages and Clerics have the opportunity to change the outcome of a failure into a success.
When a Failure Stone is drawn during spellcasting, players can instead add a Fate Stone to their casting pouch to have that cast succeed this however comes at a cost.
That added Fate Stone is now treated as another Failure stone for every subsequent test and remains in the caster's pouch until the next morning when they take a Fate Test and draw from the Tarot of Fate.
See Corruption.
In Helsreik, Casters and Secular healers automatically regenerate their stones after dawn each day.
Additionally during events casters can perform rituals to regenerate lost success stones.
Players have different ways they may regenerate stones depending on what archetype they play.
Mages:
Once per day, Mages can restore all success Runestones to themselves by spending 10 minutes roleplaying a magical ritual/study/preparation etc. at a place of magical power to restore their magical energy.
Clerics:
Once per day, Clerics can restore all success Runestones to themselves by spending 10 minutes roleplaying divine ritual/prayer/sermon etc. at a place of divine power to restore their faith in their god.
Secular Healers and Artificers:
Once per day, Secular Healers and Artificers can restore all success Runestones to themselves by spending 10 minutes roleplaying the preparation of their tools and ingredients.
In addition, Secular Healers can create and drink an Elixir of Restoration, which will restore 3 Success Runestones to any archetype.
Players must go to an appropriate location related to their lore or field and perform a prayer, small magical ritual or collect supplies for the day. This process usually takes a few minutes to complete. Once complete, the player will regenerate their full stone amount for the day.
For example, a warrior priest of Morr would need to go to the graveyard, read their rites, and pray to Morr for guidance for the day while a herbalist may go to the Apothecary to collect supplies.
